Helen Tung

Senior Associate
Helen Tung is a barrister (England and Wales) and Senior Legal Associate based in Dubai. Helen specialises in international arbitration, maritime, corporate disputes and international trade, with particular emphasis on insurance, reinsurance, enforcement of judgments and commercial contracts. Helen was previously registered as a Foreign Registered lawyer in Ireland, Brussels and Victoria, Australia. Helen acts for corporates, shipping companies, insurers, investors and start-ups in relation to all types of contractual dispute matters. Her practice includes international arbitration, litigation, mediation as well as advisory work with start-ups in emergent technologies. Before joining Fichte & Co Helen worked with a leading space reinsurers in Dubai and has practiced in London with secondments with major Asian shipping law firms Lee & Ko in Seoul (2014) and Wang & Jing, Shanghai (2015) and was a member of a Japanese Maritime study group in Tokyo during her stay at the EU – Japan Centre (2019) as a MINERVA Fellow. Furthermore, Helen was also previously a Vessel Policy advisor at the UK Maritime Coastguard and commenced a Ph.D. in maritime security and international law (coursework only) at the University of Greenwich, specialising in the role of flagged states, armed guards on ships and piracy. She is a member of the Dubai Courts of the Future Working Group and Inter-Pacific Bar Association and formerly Vice-Chair of the Aerospace and Aviation Committee. Helen is a registered consultant for the International Maritime Organisation since 2010 and founding member of the Maritime Autonomous Regulatory Systems Working Group (2013-).
