The Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the DIFC Dispute Resolution Authority (DRA.) This provides Jafza registered companies, their employees and investors, access to a suite of established, English-language-based, commercial and common law judicial systems and dispute resolution services, including the Small Claims Tribunal of the DIFC Courts and the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre.

As a major international free zone, Jafza contains companies with a diverse background of legal systems and languages. Multinational Corporations can have increased confidence that their case will be dealt with under an efficient, fair and impartial commercial legal system. The English-based legal system enables corporations to initiate and manage a case more easily, and with better understanding of the UAE laws and regulations. Furthermore, Jafza member companies now have access to the DRA’s seminars, workshops and events operated by DIFC Academy of Law and the DRA, thus increasing their knowledge in international trade, dispute resolution and wider legal topics

Multinational Corporations can strategically plan to increase their trade and investment activities in Dubai accordingly.

About the Dispute Resolution Authority (DRA)

The Dispute Resolution Authority administers legal services within the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC). Established in 2014, it is one of three DIFC bodies, alongside the DIFC Authority and the Dubai Financial Services Authority.

The DRA currently incorporates the DIFC Courts, Dubai’s established English-language, commercial and common law judicial systems; DIFC Wills and Probate Registry, the first Common Law, English language wills and probate service for non-Muslims in the Middle East; and the Academy of Law, an independent entity that provides quality education and support to the UAE legal community.
