The last months have witnessed significant new visa reforms in the United Arab Emirates.
The coronavirus pandemic has seen an exponential rise in the number of people switching to remote work. While working from home is becoming the new normal, the United Arab Emirates have started to give the opportunity to live in one of the most beautiful and safe countries in the world and carry out your work, wherever your company is.
In the past months, the Cabinet issued a resolution regarding a one-year remote work visa to the foreigner who wants to live and work remotely, even if their companies are based in another country. This system will be the first of its kind in the region, enabling the foreigner to stay in the UAE for a year and practice his virtual job.
This trend will turn into a digital economy, advancing digital globalization. Further, it will attract minds and talents and employ expertise and human resources to raise productivity in the national economy and other vital sectors.
During a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Ruler of Dubai, among several initiatives, another new Resolution was passed recently. The Resolution provides new entry and residence rules in Dubai, namely: a new multiple-entry tourist visa scheme that can now be issued for all nationalities and can be valid up to five years and alone year residence visas enabling employees all over the world to work remotely from Dubai.
What you need to know about the new five years multiple-entry tourist visa:
  • It will be issued for all nationalities
  • It will be valid for five-years
  • It is on self-sponsorship, therefore no guarantor would be needed.
  • It allows multiple entry and exists within a time frame of 90 days, which can be extended for additional 90 days.
The new Resolution aims to support tourism as economic activity and emphasizes the UAE’s position as a global tourist destination for all. Notwithstanding, with the new remote work residence permits, UAE will enhance the future of business, facilitate its practice, and enhance its competitiveness in the global market. It provides the opportunity for a large segment of skill-holders and entrepreneurs to move to the UAE and experience an advanced level of professional and personal life in an environment that values talent and innovative business ideas.
