As the leading Maritime Law Firm in the Middle East, Fichte & Co., together with Tufton Oceanic and the Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries, organized and sponsored the 8th UAE Shipping Industry Roundtable, an exclusive networking event attended by leading representatives from the maritime industry and members of WISTA (Women’s Shipping and Trading Association) from all around the world. The event with the title, “WISTA meets the UAE Shipping Industry” was held at the Dubai Marina Yacht Club, Dubai on Wednesday, April 09, 2014.
This event, an initiative to provide the local shipping community the only informal networking platform and an opportunity to discuss maritime issues of concern was attended by the crème de la crème of the local shipping community. The attendees were presented with a unique opportunity to network, as the guests represented every part of the industry, ranging from shipowners and operators to authorities, banks, and P&I Clubs. The evening began with welcome drinks and in an informal environment allowing the guests to mingle and take advantage of the networking opportunities. Jasmin Fichte, managing partner at Fichte & Co. And Marcus Machin, CEO of Tufton Oceanic briefly addressed and welcomed the guests, complimenting the endurance and determination of the shipping industry for resisting and overcoming the past years of economic recession in the UAE. Karin Orsel, President of WISTA International introduced the guests to WISTA and its activities as a nonprofit organisation. Subsequently the guests enjoyed an excellent dinner during which, as it has become a tradition at the Shipping Industry Round Table, the guests were given the chance to briefly introduce themselves and their company. It raised smiles around the room and was a reflection of the casual atmosphere.
Due to the continued success of the Round Table, the next event will take place in September or October 2014 and the organisers look forward to another highlight in the event calendar of the UAE shipping industry.
